I made a quick, simple card last week since I was going to be gone all weekend. I basically copied a card I had made last year and just changed the colors. Not sure I LOVE it but hey, they can't all be masterpieces right??!!

I held my first official demo. last night at a friends' house! I had a few ladies who had never stamped before and some experienced ladies as well. It went really well and I'm happy to have that first one under my belt. Here is the card that we made along with the supplies used.
My card this week is a type that we never want to have to make but they are necessary unfortunately. I learned Friday that a dear friend/neighbor of my aunt & uncle passed away unexpectedly Thursday night. I made this card for his wife. I used the Stampin' Up set "Thoughts & Prayers" which I had just purchased last month. I think it is a set that everyone should have in their collection. It is the perfect set for sympathy & get well cards. None of the sentiments in my other sets ever seemed to be quite right. The images in this set are very versatile and could be used for so many different occasions.
Ok so the pressure is on now! I've joined a "blog-ring" on Splitcoast Stampers. I felt like this would give me a push to keep my blog current and add new cards every week. It also means I get to visit their blogs and be inspired by their wonderful artwork so it's a win-win. I will be adding links to all of their blogs on the right-hand side in a bit so if you are looking for some great ideas & inspiration, please visit them!
I have a couple of new cards that I made to share with you. My style of cardmaking definitely leans more towards clean and simple. I also rarely come up with original designs. I get "inspiration" from a wonderful website called Splitcoast Stampers. (http://www.splitcoaststampers.com) It features designs from many companies but my favorite place to go is the Gallery. There you can see samples of cards made from all the Stampin' Up sets. It is alphabetized by stamp set which is great. I knew I wanted to use my Tart & Tangy set so I looked it up and saw pages of card ideas. Here are the two cards I made along with the "recipes".
So the first day of Spring was last Friday and once again I find it bringing changes and a new ability to focus on some things I want to do. I noticed the last time I blogged was the beginning of Fall. I do know for a fact that the beginnings of Spring & Fall re-energize me every year. I need to learn how to maintain that enthusiasm!
My poor neglected blog! Not one post all summer! It's strange though now that school has started, the weather is changing, and I'm burning my fall candles, I want to blog again! I also found myself looking at the other blogs of creative ladies who inspire me yesterday. I am about to start making some Halloween cards so I guess my crafty/blogging side takes a summer vacation. I did manage to attend a couple of crops this summer but I did more talking and eating than scrapbooking!! I also found a really cool group of ladies online who share my love of accessories, pugs, scrapbooking, shopping, etc. so a lot of my online time went to posting over there. But, it's time to give my blog the attention it deserves after I spent so much time setting it up!
I had a really nice Mother's Day and I hope all the Mom's reading this did too. I had a blast playing Guitar Hero with the kids. I made a fool of myself at first but by the end of the day, my kids said I was pretty good. I stuck to the easy level and tried to master one song (La Grange by ZZ Top). Max is amazing and Jenny is very good too. Alex has just started playing and was doing really well. Max (dh) decided Tiger Woods Golf is more his speed so he had fun laughing at us. Fun stuff!
Here is a picture from yesterday. I can't believe how big my kids are...Max will be 19 next weekend...wow!
Peace,
